Jim Henson Productions tries new movie market

With recent movie revenue slacking, the Jim Henson Company (formally Jim Henson Productions) ventures into a new genre with its most recent film “House of 1000 Muppets”. Brian and Lisa Henson, who currently serve as co-chairs and co-CEO of the company, released a statement explain the move.

“The people who enjoyed Jim Henson movies as kids are adults now, so we thought we would try to reconnect with that consumer group,” stated Brian Henson. The companies other attempt to recapture the adult viewing audience was a poorly received adult movie in 2003 directed by Seymore Butts, entitled “Assgasims IV - Eating Pork.” Lisa Henson further commented that she liked director Rob Zombie much more than Butts. “The things he [Butts] wanted Kermit to do to Piggy… it just wasn’t right.”

House of 1000 Muppets looks to be the darkest film released by the late Jim Henson’s company since Dark Crystal premiered in 1982.
