Great Brittan gave us Idol, Millionaire, and Weakest Link. Canada gave us Chain Reaction and the Million Dollar Word Game. France gave us 60 years of ungratefulness after we saved their asses from the Germans. Now Japan has entered the fray, trying to sell US television stations on their version of the American classic - the game show.

Video of the pilot episode, shot in Japan, was released to NBC, CBS, and GSN earlier this month. They tried to pitch it to Fox as well, but Fox responded by saying that the show was below even their standards. The difference between traditional game shows and the sadist Japanese versions would be the painful and humiliating acts of sadism that the Japanese culture seems to find humorous. Given the success of Jackass, the show might just find a niche here in the states too.
